SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga City Schools has officially opened the head football coaching job for applications.

The job is now posted on the Alabama State Department of Education job board website.

Applications and resumes are due by Feb. 21. The job posting states the supplemental position will pay $16, 638.

The Sylacauga Board of Education accepted the resignation of its former head coach, Matt Griffith, on Tuesday.

In 15 years as the Aggies head coach, Griffith tallied 98 wins and 64 losses, making the postseason each of the last eight years. Griffith is second on the school’s all-time win list behind legendary coach Tom Calvin who recently passed away.

Griffith also spent the last 10 years as director of athletics for the school system before being relieved of those duties in November.
