SYLACAUGA – The remains believed to be those of 15-year-old Ja’Marious Logan of Huntsville were discovered in Sylacauga last Thursday, Nov. 16 after an extensive investigation.
Huntsville Police Department (HPD) investigators have filed charges related to the kidnapping and death of Logan.
The young teenager was reported missing on Sept. 27, triggering an immediate and comprehensive investigation by local authorities. He was last seen in the late hours of Sept. 25, with investigators initially lacking credible information about his whereabouts.
On Friday, Nov. 17, authorities charged Latorrie Gaddis, 33, with capital murder in connection to Logan’s death. Gaddis, who was already wanted for two second-degree assault warrants, was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Alexander City.
34-year-old Deserea Pilar Cunningham, the wife of the primary suspect, is now facing a hindering prosecution charge. Cunningham was later taken into custody by authorities in Sylacauga and booked into the Talladega County Jail. She is slated to be extradited to Huntsville.
Latoya Wells, 37, and Corie Wilson, 33, are also implicated in Logan’s disappearance and are charged with kidnapping. Both will be booked into the Madison County Jail.
The Huntsville Police Department expressed gratitude to the U.S. Marshals Service’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Sylacauga Police Department, the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, and the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office for their collaborative efforts in the ongoing investigation.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the official cause of Ja’Marious Logan’s death. The case remains under investigation, and no further details are available.
