SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Traffic will be detoured for at least three days starting this Saturday morning for railroad track repair along N. Broadway Ave. near the B.B. Comer Memorial Library.
The road will be closed beginning at 7:00 a.m. from 3rd St. to 6th St., with drivers routed off Broadway/Hwy. 21 to N. Main Ave. While work is in progress, Broadway will only be accessible for local traffic.
Work will involve removing asphalt, tracks, and ties from the current crossings on Broadway Ave., all to replaced with new components, straightening a section of track to support six-axle locomotives and faster movement through the area.
The road is scheduled to reopen on Monday, Oct. 30, but could be delayed until Tuesday.
