Munford man arrested for leaving the scene of an accident

LINCOLN, Ala. – According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, a Munford man has been arrested after leaving the scene of an accident this past week in Talladega County and was held on $7,500 bond in the county jail.

ALEA says 31-year-old Joseph T. Newborn, of Munford, was in a vehicle that was struck by another car before crashing into a third vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 78 and Wills Farm Road, four miles east of Lincoln.

The multi-vehicle crash happened at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14th. A passenger in the vehicle that initially struck Newborn, 34-year-old Jerrica N. Rowland, was injured and taken to Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

ALEA said that after the crash Newborn attempted to leave the scene but was “quickly apprehended” and taken into custody. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
