SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga City Schools (SCS) Superintendent Dr. Michele Eller is helping to set a remarkable example of leadership for the system’s students by personally participating in car and bus rider drop-off duty at Pinecrest Elementary.
On Wednesday morning, Jan. 17, Dr. Eller was was seen actively engaged in helping with the shuttling of students.
“I can’t ask my parents, my students, my teachers, and my administrators to be out in the cold getting students in and us not do the same,” said Dr. Eller, “so we kind of divided and conquered throughout the [school system].”
At Pinecrest, she joined forces with Julie Green, Lindsey Kissic, Tammy Gill, Monte Barron, Barry Strickland, and more. Eller affectionately called this group the “Chosen Frozen.”
Not only did Dr. Eller demonstrate her willingness to undertake any task, but she also prioritizes safety. She personally inspected commuting routes after freezing rain on Jan. 15.
“You can’t ask folks to do something that you’re not willing to do as well,” Eller emphasized, “and I think it’s important to lead by example.”
