Fiber optic lines damaged in Talladega County, sheriff’s office investigating

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident involving approximately $25,000 in damaged or destroyed fiber optic cable along the 2600 block of Pine Grove Rd. near Sylacauga.

According to authorities, the fiber optic lines belonged to Spectrum and had only recently been installed when they were cut down. Officials said the cable was damaged but not stolen.

Investigators believe the incident occurred around Monday, April 20. No suspects have been identified at this time, and the sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s assistance.
