Fatal five-vehicle crash on Hwy 280 in Sylacauga leaves one man dead

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A fatal multi-vehicle crash on Hwy 280 in Sylacauga left one person dead on Tuesday afternoon, July 2.

The collision, which occurred around 2:00 p.m., involved five vehicles at the intersection of Ft. Williams St. and Fayetteville Highway.

The Sylacauga Police Department reported that 41-year old Joshua Andrew Harris, of Sylacauga, was pronounced dead at the scene. This was later confirmed by Talladega County coroner Shaddix Murphy.

The accident caused significant traffic delays with lanes on Hwy 280 blocked near the intersection as authorities investigated the scene.
