SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Farmers Market, which extended its summer season into September this year because of a banner growing season, has completed its summer season and will return with a fall market in October.
The local farmers market will return to Central Park on Friday, Oct. 16, from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The fall market is scheduled to run for four weeks through Friday, Nov. 13.
The market also will serve as a place for area seniors to use Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) cards issued by the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.
The local farmers market program is administered by the Alabama Farmers Market Authority, which works to assist in the marketing of agricultural products directly from farms to consumers.
The program helps provide consumers with quality products at reasonable prices while ensuring producers receive a fair return. It also provides a convenient and dependable place for producers and buyers to meet regularly.
