ALPINE, Ala. – On Sunday, March 5, a two-vehicle crash that took place on Hwy 21 resulted in one Talladega man’s death.
At around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, Riley Welch, 72, was driving his 2004 GMC Sierra along Hwy 21 about five miles south of Talladega near Bullocks Ferry Rd. when his vehicle was struck by another man driving a 2002 Ford Windstar.
Welch was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and he sustained critical injuries.
He was transported to UAB Hospital where he eventually passed away.
The other individual involved in the crash, 65-year old John Rogers of Talladega, was also injured and taken to Citizens Baptist Medical Center.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division will continue its investigation into the incident.
