Childersburg man dies after Thursday morning crash

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – At around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, March 16, a single-vehicle accident occurred leaving one Childersburg man dead.

67-year old Robert C. McMillian, Jr. was severely injured when the vehicle he was driving, a 1995 GMC Sierra, overturned into a creek after it left the road and struck a culvert.

The crash took place on John Lightsey Ln. about six miles south of Childersburg.

McMillian was transported via airlift to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division are continuing an investigation into the accident.
