SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce is bringing the Christmas spirit to town with three holiday events planned for November and December, encouraging residents to shop locally and celebrate the season.

The festivities begin with Christmas Open House from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, in downtown Sylacauga. Participating shops and restaurants will offer holiday specials and seasonal sales.

Shoppers can also enter a drawing for $250 in Chamber Bucks. For every $25 spent at participating Chamber-member businesses downtown that day, shoppers can earn one entry by bringing their receipts to the Chamber tent. The prize can be spent at local businesses.

Christmas in the Park and the Sylacauga Christmas Tree Lighting are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29. Central Park activities will include visits with Santa, children’s crafts, treats, a balloon artist, Santa’s Toy Shop, a North Pole train, and hot chocolate.

Afterward, the community will gather at City Hall for the city’s Christmas tree lighting and the official lighting of the Tinsel Trail. The display will feature decorated trees sponsored by local businesses, organizations, and individuals.

The Sylacauga Christmas Parade, presented by Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union, will close out the lineup at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3. The parade will begin at Sylacauga High School, travel south on Broadway Ave., turn onto Fort Williams St., and then Norton Ave. before returning to the high school.

Parade applications are available at sylacaugachamber.com. Businesses, schools, churches, organizations, and community groups can also call the Chamber at (256) 249-0308 for information.

The events are part of the Chamber’s “Keep the Cheer Here” campaign, which promotes local shopping and community celebrations.
