CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Childersburg Parks and Recreation hosted the September Chamber Coffee, highlighting its well-used facilities that serve as venues for numerous community events. Brad Logan also detailed the department’s busy fall sports and recreation schedule.
Wesley Allen, representing the city, reported that both new residential developments are building out to 100 percent of their announced development plans.
“We are adding population, already past 500 new residents on the way to 1,000-plus,” Allen said.
Talladega County Commission Chairman Malley Limbaugh addressed growing speculation about data center development.
“We have no power to tell anyone who they can sell their land to. We certainly don’t have to give tax abatements for data center projects,” Limbaugh said.
Skye Owens of Central Alabama Community College announced a pair of family events during next week’s Adult Education Week.
“Chick-fil-A in Sylacauga and Alexander City will host family activity nights in support of adult education. You’ll be able to get important information about those programs, but the focus is more on fun family activities,” Owens said.
The Sylacauga event is scheduled for Monday evening, Sept. 14, while the Alexander City event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Community announcements also included three “Awareness Month” designations for important causes: Childhood Cancer, Prostate Cancer, and Suicide Prevention.
As plans come together for Veterans Day 2026 activities in the area, organizers also requested the community’s help in making the events – especially the annual Veterans Day Parade in Sylacauga – truly special as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
