TALLADEGA, Ala. – Authorities are investigating a residential burglary that resulted in the theft of a large collection of firearms, ammunition, and family heirlooms, officials said.

The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office released that the break-in occurred between April 13 and April 20 at a home on Horns Lake Rd. Investigators believe one or more individuals entered the residence and accessed a secure safe, removing numerous items of significant monetary and historical value.

Deputies responded to the home on Tuesday, April 21 to begin the investigation.

Among the stolen property are several rare and unique firearms, including historical rifles dating back to World War I and World War II. Officials said these include a Lee Enfield rifle still in protective grease, a custom-built 1903 Springfield, an M1 Garand, and an M14 rifle. A 1930s Remington police revolver also was reported missing.

Additional stolen items include vintage shotguns from the 1930s, a Winchester .338 Magnum rifle, two Chinese SKS rifles, and a Bushmaster AR-15. Several handguns were taken as well, including Beretta compacts, a Taurus pistol, a Hi-Point firearm, a Ruger .22 pistol, and a Remington revolver.

Authorities said thousands of dollars’ worth of ammunition also was stolen.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to arrests or the recovery of the items. Anyone with information is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP or the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office.
