SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Sylacauga man is being held in the Talladega County Metro Jail after authorities say he imprisoned, assaulted, and later fired into a vehicle occupied by his ex-girlfriend.
52-year old Lloyd Jerrell Crow turned himself in last Tuesday, March 10 after being released from the Coosa County Jail on unrelated charges. Bond in the Talladega County case was set at $15,000.
According to authorities, the charges stem from an alleged incident at a residence in the 100 block of Lake Tate Rd. just outside Sylacauga. Deputies first made contact with the victim when she arrived at Coosa Valley Medical Center seeking treatment.
Court documents state Crow restrained the woman by lying on her, pushing her down, and threatening to kill her if she tried to leave again. During the incident, he allegedly kicked her and struck her repeatedly with his fists and the butt of an AR-15 rifle.
Investigators say that when the woman managed to reach her car and attempt to leave, Crow fired several shots into the vehicle.
The victim was not struck by gunfire but lost control of the car and crashed. She suffered extensive bruising, a broken nose, and fractures around her left eye.
Under Alabama law, shooting into an occupied vehicle is a Class B felony punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison upon conviction, while third-degree domestic violence and unlawful imprisonment are classified as misdemeanors.
