SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Life long Sylacauga resident Billy W. Carden passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born on September 3, 1939, in Sylacauga.
Billy Carden is remembered as the owner-operator at Carden’s Lock & Key for the past 56 years. He served a term on the Sylacauga City Council and worked at American Color Graphics for over 27 years. He also served in the US Army in Korea from 1961 thru 1964 as a SP5 (T) E-5.
Carden is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mona Carden, and his children, Rodney Carden (Anna) and Crystal Carden. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Timeka Baker, and his “fur babies,” Izzy, Lexie, Nick, and Roadie that he loved dearly. He was a faithful member of Browns Chapel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, located at 320 North Elm Avenue in Sylacauga on Feb. 19, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same venue in the Chapel on Feb. 20, 2026, at 2:00 pm with Bro. Jeff Harris officiating. Burial to follow at Harpersville City Cemetery, located at 38899 AL-25 in Harpersville.
