TALLADEGA, Ala. – Talladega’s annual observance of Mardi Gras kicks off Thursday, Feb. 5 at Heritage Hall with the opening reception for their Mardi Gras showcase, but there’s plenty more to look forward to on the schedule as well over the weekend.
That showcase, “Visit with Royalty,” is presented in collaboration with the Mobile Carnival Museum and made possible by a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts to help celebrate Alabama’s Mardi Gras culture with the public through Friday, Feb. 27. The opening reception at Heritage Hall is 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. this Thursday.
Then on Saturday, Feb. 7, the celebration hits high gear in downtown Talladega with the annual Mardi Gras Parade at 11:00 a.m. down Battle St. That will transition to the historic Ritz Theater at 12:00 p.m. for a three-hour Mardi Gras Party. It promises to be an an unforgettable “Party Gras” celebration that will transport you straight to the heart of Bourbon Street.
Planed live entertainment will allow you to experience the vibrant sounds of New Orleans with incredible performances planned. There’ll be a great lineup of cajun food trucks to satisfy your cravings with a variety of delicious cajun dishes that will leave your taste buds dancing. There will even be a Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar, too.
Hosted by the Ritz Theatre, the Square becomes a New Orleans-style afternoon filled with fun, flavor and fantastic entertainment you won’t want to miss.
