SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Wisconsin-based family gospel group will bring its music to Sylacauga next February.
Marble City Baptist Church will host The Garms Family in concert at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20. The group has spent nearly two decades performing concerts designed to be both musically polished and welcoming.
The Garms Family consists of parents David and Kris Garms and their children Ben, Taylor, Leesha, Sam, Jayme, and Caleb. Together, they perform Christian music that blends Southern Gospel, contemporary Christian, bluegrass, and inspirational styles. Their acoustic sound features close to 20 instruments, including guitars, piano, drums, violin, banjo, upright bass, accordion, harmonica, cello, dobro, and mandolin.
Audiences often describe the concerts as high-energy and engaging, with arrangements that highlight tight harmonies and varied vocal and instrumental combinations. Repertoire ranges from well-known hymns to original songs, all centered on a consistent message of faith and hope.
When not touring in their 45-foot bus, known as “Bertie,” the family lives in Arkansaw, Wisconsin, where they are renovating a former school into The Gospel Gym, a performing arts center, recording studio, and residence.
