Clay County’s big event, “Yellow-Meated Watermelon Festival,” on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 1-2

SHARE NOW

ASHLAND, Ala. – It’s an amazing scene – the wooded city park loaded with all sorts of fun things and people from all over the region. Ashland comes alive with the annual two-day “Yellow-Meated Watermelon Festival,” starting Friday night, Aug. 1, with a concert at 6:00 p.m., featuring Birmingham’s Z and the Party Faktory.

There will be lots of great food, acres of vendors, a cornhole tournament, and even a kid’s splash zone.

On Saturday morning, Aug. 2, the Watermelon Festival kicks off at 8:00 a.m. with the Central High School of Clay County Marching Band performing.

All those vendors and more make the scene a full day of family fun. There’ll be plenty to eat with a full food truck court, loads of activities for children, a car show on the Square, and, of course, the title attraction – the sweetest yellow-meated watermelon you will ever taste.

This a free event, and everyone is welcome to attend.

We’re looking to hook-up with one the annual event’s most amazing exhibitors. You’ll be amazed at what Carl Franklin Jones, III of Jackson, Tenn. does to transform watermelons into edible art! Check back mid-morning Friday for details!
