COOSA COUNTY, Ala. – Authorities responded to reports of gunfire on County Rd. 93 on Tuesday, May 1, where they found a 27-year-old man fatally shot in Coosa County.
The Coosa County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived at the scene to discover David Tyrell Benson, of Cottage Grove, lying on the roadway with gunshot wounds.
Benson was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Sheriff Howell and investigators are leading the inquiry into Benson’s death. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 377-4922.
