SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Parks and Recreation will be hosting a Halloween-themed Movie Night in the Park and costume contest sponsored by Ben Robbins on Friday, Oct. 21.
Hocus Pocus, a PG-rated Halloween classic, is the movie being shown. The approximate runtime of the movie is 95 minutes.
The event will take place at Central Park across from Blue Bell Creameries with the movie’s opening credit set to roll around 7:30 p.m.
Before the movie starts, those on hand can treat themselves to the food trucks on location. Cuppa Grace, GG’s Food Truck, Lilly Jo’s Treats, and Seafood Queens will be at Central Park serving customers that evening.
Also, a costume competition will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
There will be three categories for the costume competition: Children (ages 5-11), Youth (ages 12-17) and Adults (18+). First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded in each age bracket for costumes that display the most outstanding creativity, originality, effort, and authenticity. Costumes of all shapes and sizes are allowed and can be homemade or store bought.
There will be three special guest judges from the community.
The entry fee is $10 per person, and you can register online at sylacauga.recdesk.com. To be eligible to compete, you must register no later than Friday, Oct 14, one week before the contest.
