SYLACAUGA, Ala. – From a tall tower southeast of Sylacauga, RadioAlabama’s 98.3 Fox FM has increased transmission power by another 50%. The station’s extended regional signal includes parts of Hoover, Birmingham, Leeds, Pell City, Anniston, Roanoke, Montgomery, Prattville, Clanton, Montevallo, and Calera.

The Federal Communications Commission authorized the change on Jan. 31 as the second upgrade since RadioAlabama returned the station to the Sylacauga area in late 2016. Launched as WMLS-FM in 1959, the frequency moved to and had been in Ashland since 2004. Last June, as WFXO-FM, the station more than doubled power and added digital channels when the FCC upgraded the channel from a Class A to a Class C3. Additionally, Yea!106.5 is heard on 98.3 HD2.

One of eight local and regional signals operated under the RadioAlabama brand by Marble City Media LLC, 98.3 Fox FM remains the most powerful commercial FM – and the only HD/digital station – within 50 miles of Sylacauga. All are also available via direct online streams, Apple and Android smartphone and tablet apps, the RadioAlabama skill on Amazon Alexa-enabled smart speakers, and through Tune-In and iHeart Radio.
