SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The sixth radio station in the growing Marble City Media family officially launched today with a new format as 98.3 Fox FM.

After 12 years in Ashland, the frequency returned to the Sylacauga area, where it was born as WMLS-FM in December 1959.

From its Sylacauga media center, MCM now operates six radio transmitters across four separate brands:

  • Yea!106.5 & WYEA!1290 (Sylacauga-Childersburg)
  • 105.1 WRFS – The Lake (Alexander City-Dadeville-Lake Martin-Wetumpka-Montgomery)
  • 96.3 & 1050 WLMA – Real Country (Alexander City-Dadeville-Lake Martin)
  • 98.3 Fox FM – WFXO (Sylacauga-Childersburg-Talladega-Alexander City-Dadeville-Lake Martin)

Collectively, these signals reach into parts of 20 Alabama counties, west-to-east between Birmingham and Auburn and south-to-north from below Montgomery to I-20.

MCM owns six of 13 commercial radio stations and related translators within a 30-mile radius of Sylacauga and has a construction permit to build WAUA-FM, a new station on 100.3 MHz, serving the Auburn-Opelika area.

In the United States, the Federal Communications Commission currently licenses a total of 11,208 commercial AM and FM radio stations, 285 of which are in Alabama.
