SYLACAUGA, Ala. – On a Wednesday afternoon at Sylacauga High School, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as friends, family, and teammates gathered to witness a pivotal moment in Makasia Crawford’s life.

Crawford, a standout volleyball player for the Aggies, signed a college scholarship to join the Gadsden State Cardinals. This was a culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and countless hours spent perfecting her craft on the court. As she sat at the table, pen poised above the dotted line, memories flooded her mind of the journey that had brought her to this point, as she thanked her teammates, school coaches and club coaches who helped her along the way.

Throughout her high school career, Crawford had been a driving force behind Sylacauga’s volleyball team’s success, helping them secure two state tournament appearances in the last three years. Her senior year statistics spoke volumes of her skill and determination, with an impressive tally of 194 kills, 17 solo blocks, 23 assisted blocks, and 23 digs in the 2023 season alone. As she signed her scholarship papers, emotions ran high. Tears welled up in her eyes, a testament to the significance of the moment and the realization of her dreams coming true.

With her signature now inked on the dotted line, Crawford was ready to embark on the next chapter of her journey, carrying with her the lessons learned on the court and the memories of a day she would never forget.
