TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) Talladega Marksmanship Park is hosting its annual D-Day event June 6-9 to commemorate the Allied invasion of the beaches of Normandy, France during World War II.
An M1 rifle maintenance clinic, a new shooter clinic and the opening ceremony will start the event at 4 p.m. on Thursday. Rifle and pistol matches will take place on Friday and Saturday. The event ends with the Vintage Sniper Rifle Team Match and awards on Sunday.
This year’s event marks the fourth anniversary of the park’s opening and the 75th anniversary of D-Day. The event will feature World War II artifacts, vehicles and military equipment. Flyovers by World War II aircraft will occur daily, starting with the opening ceremony.
Competitors and spectators are welcome to attend.
