Winterboro to play 2025 home football games in Childersburg

SHARE NOW

ALPINE, Ala. – Winterboro High School will play its 2025 home football games at Childersburg’s John Cox Stadium following tornado damage to its own facilities.

An EF2 tornado tore through the area in March, destroying the press box and bleachers at Winterboro’s stadium and damaging parts of the old high school. As a result, the Bulldogs will temporarily relocate their home games.

Winterboro is set to host three games at John Cox Stadium: Sept. 26 vs. Weaver, Oct. 3 vs. Victory Christian, and Oct. 10 vs. Woodland. The latter two are crucial Class 1A, Region 6 matchups.

The Bulldogs will also face Childersburg High on Oct. 31 at the same venue — a designated home game for the Tigers.

Despite the setback, Winterboro is grateful for the temporary home and hopes to return to its own field in time for the 2026 season.
