TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – Winterboro’s girls and Sylacauga’s boys punched their tickets to the Alabama High School Athletic Association Final Four on Tuesday, Feb. 24, each capturing regional championships to advance in the state basketball playoffs.
In a showdown between the top two ranked teams in Class 1A girls, Winterboro defeated Ider 49-42 to claim the Northeast Regional title in Jacksonville. The victory sends the Bulldogs to the Final Four – a benchmark set by coach Rebecca Williams when she arrived in Alpine.
Winterboro will face Kinston in the state semifinals on Monday, March 2, at 12:00 p.m.
Sylacauga followed with a dominant performance in the Central Regional in Montgomery, routing Marbury 70-40 to earn a second consecutive Final Four appearance. The Aggies will take on Guntersville in the state semifinals Wednesday, March 4, at 4:30 p.m.
Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham will host all contests in the 2026 AHSAA Final Four.
Winterboro’s boys also reached a regional final but fell to Wadley in Jacksonville, ending their postseason run one game shy of the Final Four.
