TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – Local and state agencies continue to battle a wildland fire in the Renfroe area, where more than 100 acres have burned as of Monday, Nov. 17, according to the Alabama Forestry Commission.
The Talladega Fire Department, multiple volunteer units, and the U.S. Forest Service have joined the Unified Command as crews work to contain the blaze and protect nearby homes. The fire is not yet fully contained, and suppression efforts are expected to continue until crews can secure the area.
Officials are urging the public to avoid Renfroe to ensure emergency personnel have clear access. Heavy smoke may affect surrounding communities, and drivers are advised to use caution due to reduced visibility.
No evacuations have been ordered, and no additional threats to residential structures have been reported. However, authorities encourage residents to stay alert for updates and be prepared to follow instructions if conditions change.
The American Red Cross is assisting on scene, providing water and food to firefighters working in difficult conditions. Officials expressed gratitude to all First Responders and volunteers supporting Talladega County during the ongoing effort.
