SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A portion of West Park Street will remain closed for about two weeks after heavy rainfall caused a partial roadway washout.

The Sylacauga Police Department announced over the weekend that West Park Street was closed to traffic at Pinecrest and Craddock due to unsafe road conditions. Work to make repairs includes replacement of water and sewer lines. For the safety of the workers on site and to avoid delays, please avoid this area and choose an alternate route during this time.

The washout occurred following heavy rain late Friday night, January 9 into Saturday morning. No injuries were reported in connection with the washout.
