West Park St. in Sylacauga closed after washout caused by heavy rain

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A portion of West Park St. remains closed after heavy rainfall caused a partial roadway washout, city officials have confirmed.

The Sylacauga Police Department announced that West Park St. is closed at Pinecrest and Craddock due to unsafe road conditions. Officials warned that the affected area is not safe to cross and urged motorists to avoid the location and use alternate routes.

The washout occurred following heavy rain late Friday night, Jan. 9 into Saturday morning. As of Monday afternoon, Jan. 12, the roadway remains closed while crews work to address the damage.

Police asked residents to remain patient as repairs are made and to continue monitoring official city channels for updates.

No injuries were reported in connection with the washout.
