SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga City Schools has announced the promotion of Wes Brooks to Assistant Principal at Indian Valley Elementary School.
The appointment was approved by the Sylacauga City Board of Education during its called meeting on Monday, June 29. Brooks will begin his new role Wednesday, July 1.
Brooks most recently served as a fifth grade math teacher at Pinecrest Elementary School and completed the district’s most recent Teachers of Promise Sylacauga, or TOPS, leadership cohort.
Superintendent Dr. Michele Eller said the district is committed to developing leaders from within its own ranks.
“We believe in growing our own leaders in Sylacauga City Schools,” Dr. Eller said. “The TOPS program provides our educators with meaningful opportunities to develop their leadership skills and advance within our district. I am excited to see Mr. Brooks and Mrs. Cleveland work together as administrative partners and lead Indian Valley Elementary with a shared commitment to student success.”
Brooks joined Sylacauga City Schools in 2024. District leaders said he has earned the respect of students, families, and colleagues through his instructional leadership, commitment to student achievement, and efforts to foster a positive learning environment.
Before joining the district, Brooks spent more than ten years working as an elementary educator. During that time, he developed a reputation for strong classroom instruction and student engagement.
School officials said Brooks’ experience and dedication to education will help support students, faculty, and families at Indian Valley Elementary. District leaders expressed confidence in his ability to contribute to the school’s success as preparations continue for the 2026-27 academic year.
