SYLACAUGA Ala. – On Friday, the Talladega County Sheriff’s department responded to a fatal shooting on the 200 block of Truitt Road, between Sylacauga and Childersburg.
Michael Emanuel Waites, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.
County deputies, along with the Childersburg and Sylacauga police responded to a 911 call from an individual reporting a shooting.
When deputies arrived, the alleged shooter was still at the scene. Two firearms were recovered from the scene. The alleged shooter has not been charged with a crime.
Waites did not live at the scene of the shooting, but did live nearby.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office at 256-761-2141.
