SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council met on Thursday night, Jan. 18, at 6:00 p.m. with a work session prior at 5:00 p.m.
At the meeting, the council held a public hearing to consider a permanent road closure of the road identified as “Sky View Dr.” After no response during the hearing, the council then approved Resolution No. 2-2024 to permanently close the road identified as “Sky View Dr.”
The city council declared architectural plans filing cabinets (3), architectural plan hanging rack with 10 clam holders, damaged office supplies, and damaged airport runway lighting supplies as surplus property and authorize disposal on GovDeals.com online auction or other appropriate means.
Approval was granted of the funding for the replacement of utility poles for traffic lights at McDonald’s in the amount of $20,727.06 and at Avondale Ave. and Old Birmingham Hwy in the amount of $22,953.83.
Additionally, they approved Sylacauga Parks and Recreation to host “Various Events” at different Parks and Recreational facilities for the remainder of the calendar year 2024 and waive the $50 Business License Fee for each event.
Sylacauga Police Department (SPD) Investigator’s “On-Call” compensation was approved.
The city council approved FY24 Accounts Payable invoices in the amount of $252,894.67.
The next meeting of the Sylacauga City Council is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
