SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council held a meeting on Tuesday, June 4, at 6:00 p.m. with a work session prior at 5:00 p.m.
At the meeting, the city council appointed Blaine Green to the Board of Education for a five-year term that expires April 2029.
A public hearing was held to enter into an Amended and Restated Development Agreement with Wharf Casual Seafood Sylacauga, LLC.
The council approved the revised Ordinance No. 2268-24 Back-to-School and Severe Weather Preparedness State Sales Tax Holiday approved by the Sylacauga City Council on May 23, 2024.
They amended Resolution No. 49-2024 for FY24 General Fund Operating Budget for the City of Sylacauga to provide funding for Contract & Entities Budget Amendment Requests. (This was to amend the budget amendment for the Parks & Recreation Department to reflect a decrease from the general budget to earmarked money totaling $22,267.40.)
Acceptance was granted for the bid for improvements to the Sylacauga Municipal Airport Taxiway Rehabilitation with Dunn Construction Company, Inc. of Birmingham, Alabama (AGCL No 8.), contingent upon available funds.
The city council approved the vehicle transfer of a 2002 Ford F-150, VIN 1FTRF17W62KC01558, from Administration & Finance to the Shop Department.
Three budget amendments were approved for the following:
– Move funds within the Administration & Finance Department totaling $31,540.09.
– Transfer Nuisance Abatement Expense from Building Services Department (010-571-42521-000) to the Police Department (010-520-42521-000) totaling $166,354.44.
– Transfer Workman’s Comp Insurance Expense from Administration & Finance (010-512-44504-000) to the Approp Flagpole R/M Expense (010-586-46504-000) totaling $2,000.
The council approved the refund for garbage services to Michael Baker, 878 Centerpoint Rd., from June 2023 through December 2023 totaling $132.72.
They approved Fiscal Year 2024 Accounts Payable invoices totaling $119,552.84.
The next Sylacauga City Council meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 18, at 6:00 p.m.
