SYLACAUGA, Ala. – At the Sylacauga City Council meeting held Tuesday night, Dec. 19, the council approved the FY24 restructured pay plan for city employees.
The following Beautification Council awards were given out by Dr. Tara Douglas:
- Citizen of the Year Award – Janice Adams
- Shining Star Award – Brent Butts
- Volunteer of the Year Award – Paul Stepp
The city council also held a public hearing to consider the annexation and zoning of property located at 23 Tuscaloosa Ave., currently zoned as MX-2, which was afterward approved.
They also set another public hearing to permanently close the road identified as “Sky View Dr.”
John Parrish was appointed to the vacated six-year term for the Industrial Development Board set to expire April 2025.
Olwyn Twyman was unanimously appointed to the Board of Education for the fiver-year term which expired in April 2023.
The city council reallocated and approved unexpended funds in the amount of $13,701.71 from FY23 Bond Proceeds for Sylacauga Parks and Recreation to upgrade South Highland Park.
Approval was granted for the request/recommendation from Human Resource Specialist Jayne McGee to authorize unused vacation leave resulting from departmental staffing shortages to be carried forward to 2024 for multiple city employees.
The council approved the 050 – Retail Beer (Off Premises Only) and 070 – Retail Table Wine (Off Premises Only) application from Steven Grant Sutherland, Chief Executive Officer of DOLGENCORP LLC and Emily Christine Taylor, LLC Manager of DOLGENCORP LLC, located at 1430 Talladega Hwy.
The FY23 Accounts Payable invoices in the amount of $48,628.58, the FY24 Accounts Payable invoices in the amount of $285,756.28, and the November payroll in the amount of $466,393.11 were all approved.
The next Sylacauga City Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
