SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council held its last meeting of October Tuesday at City Hall.
At the meeting, the council held a public hearing to rezone a piece of property on S. Main Ave. The property, addressed 102 S. Main Ave., will be rezoned from a a MX-1 district (Restricted Mix Use) to a MX-2 district (Limited Mix Use) property. This change was recommended by the planning commission.
The Sylacauga Beautification Council also presented the Francis Conn Shining Star award to Randy Clark. Clark is known for his efforts to clean up the city by picking up litter in parking lots and roadways. It also presented the Mary Jo Brown award to the Sylacauga Street Department. Steve Marlowe was the recipient of the Citizen of the Year award.

The council also took the following action:
- passed resolution 86-2021 authorizing Addendum #1 to the Agreement for Transportation Services with East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission Agreement dated Jan. 7, 2020, and expiring Sept. 30, 2022. Addendum replaces JARC program with JOBS Transportation program through Alabama DHR.
- Passed resolution 87-2021 adopting FY2022 Transportation Plan as prepared by EEFS.
- Passed resolution 88-2021 authorizing renewal agreement with East Alabama Regional Planning & Development Commission for Aging services for FY2022.
- Approval of additional FY21 Accounts Payable in the amount of $234,649.16.
- Accounts Payable received to date for FY22 in the amount of $75,545.16.
- September payroll in the amount of $398,185.41.
