SYLACAUGA, Ala. – For the last 10 days, marble sculptors from all over the country and world have taken up shop at Central Park in Sylacauga to participate in one of the city’s finest traditions.

In 2009, Sylacauga entered into a sister city agreement with Pietrasanta, Italy, a small town located off the Tuscany coast. Pietrasanta’s culture is heavily influenced by the arts.

Since then, Sylacauga’s Magic of Marble Festival has taken place, and it has grown in support and attendance every year.

At this April’s edition — Marble Fest 2023 — Marco Augusto Dueñas, of Pietrasanta, was the featured sculptor.

The festival wraps up Saturday, April 22, at noon. For both Sylacaugans and sculptors around the globe, it’s been a marvelous time at the Magic of Marble Festival.
