CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Totes of Hope is a personal care kit drive in which items for homeless veterans are collected, assembled in a backpack or tote bag, and distributed through veteran’s hospitals or veterans outreach programs. Totes of Hope provides essential personal care items like soap, toothpaste, shaving cream, and more to veterans in need.
The program, administered through the American Red Cross, provides essential personal care items like soap, toothpaste, shaving cream, and more to veterans in need. This year, Renasant Bank partnered with the American Red Cross to give back to the heroes who have sacrificed so much for the United States.
“This is a great opportunity for us to give back to our community,” said Janice Grohs. Grohs is the branch manager of Renasant Bank in Childersburg. “We have tremendous people in this community who helped us with Totes of Hope.”
Renasant Bank in Childersburg began the campaign at the beginning of March with a goal of 50 care kit bags for veterans. The bank collected far more than its goal. It actually brought in more than 300 percent of its goal. “We finished with 167 bags,” Grohs explained. “We absolutely surpassed our goal. It was just amazing to have this type of response.”
Grohs said the sheer volume of support it received throughout the process speaks wonders of the Childersburg community and the bank’s customers. “This says our city cares about its veterans and that they recognize the respect and honor our veterans deserve. The veterans are why we are here safe,” Grohs stated.
Renasant Bank prides itself on community involvement and giving back. Grohs said her branch does many fundraisers throughout the year, and hopes to make Totes of Hope an annual event. “We had so much fun doing this and want to do it again for years to come.”
