SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga community celebrated the crowning of its newest ambassadors over the weekend as Miss Sylacauga 2024 and Miss Sylacauga’s Outstanding Teen 2024 were named in a glittering ceremony at the Sylacauga High School auditorium on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Valerie Ogle (pictured left), a student at Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy, captured the coveted title of Miss Sylacauga 2024 with a dance performance to “The Overture” from the Phantom of the Opera. Her dedication to community service shines through her initiative, “Smiles for Miles: The Pediatric Cancer Journey.”
Meanwhile, Camilla Friday (right), a talented student at Sylacauga High School, took home the title of Miss Sylacauga’s Outstanding Teen 2024 by wowing the audience with her piano skills, performing “Remember When.” Her commitment to the community is reflected in her project, “Give Golf a Try.”
The event was emceed by Gregg Wykoff, the host of MIX Sunday Morning and the play-by-play announcer for the B.B. Comer Tigers.
The competition marked another milestone for the Miss Sylacauga Organization, which is the oldest running preliminary pageant to Miss Alabama and, ultimately, Miss America.
