SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The U.S. Postal Service is hosting a job fair on Friday, June 27, at the Sylacauga Post Office to fill rural delivery positions in the area.
The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 1 S Broadway Ave. and will feature postal officials available to assist with online applications and answer questions about employment.
The job fair is part of the Postal Service’s ten-year plan, Delivering for America, which is attempting to strengthen the agency’s workforce and operations nationwide.
Open positions include Rural Carrier Associates (RCAs) and Assistant Rural Carriers (ARCs), both starting at $20.38 per hour. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised driving experience. Some roles may require use of a personal vehicle for mail and package delivery.
RCAs work flexible schedules and serve as substitutes when regular carriers are off duty, while ARCs focus primarily on weekend and holiday deliveries. Routes may include Sylacauga, Alexander City, Childersburg, Goodwater, and Rockford.
The Postal Service offers career advancement, on-the-job training, and competitive benefits including health and life insurance, pension options, a 401(k)-like Thrift Savings Plan, and paid leave.
