SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Two women from Jefferson County have been accused of involvement in a murder-for-hire scheme linked to the 2021 shooting death of a 46-year-old Sylacauga man.
28-year old Kiera Monthelia Turner, of Leeds, and 30-year old Allana Amani Reid, of Birmingham, face capital murder and murder-for-hire charges in the June 2021 slaying of Bradford Franklin Isbell.
Isbell was fatally shot around 10:00 p.m. on June 23, 2021. Officers with the Sylacauga Police Department discovered Isbell deceased outside a residence on Harper Springs Rd.
Another victim, 32-year old Rachel Elizabeth Hayes, was also found at the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Hayes was swiftly transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham where she recuperated and survived.
While investigators initially suspected the shooting was targeted, no arrests were made until a Jefferson County grand jury indicted Turner and Reid on Friday, March 8.
Both Turner and Reid were incarcerated without bond following their bookings into the Jefferson County Jail.
The indictments allege that the women either hired or facilitated the hiring of an individual to carry out the shooting.
Though the alleged shooter is named in the indictments, court records do not show any charges related to the case. Presently, the individual is serving a prison sentence for an unrelated manslaughter conviction.
