COOSA COUNTY, Ala. – Two Coosa County inmates were baptized Tuesday, June 24 in Hatchet Creek, escorted by Sheriff Michael Howell, Jail Administrator Shelia Thomas, and more staff members from the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office.
The baptisms were made possible by the Coosa County Jail Ministry Team, which ministers weekly through the Central Baptist Association. Team members include Lee and Dana Wilder, Lilly Lynch, Matthew Reams, and Kent and Angel Cooper.
Sheriff Howell praised the team’s dedication, saying, “They share the gospel each week, and I’m proud to have them serving in the Coosa County Jail. They are faithful in carrying out the Bible verses of Matthew 25:34-40.”
The two inmates, whose names were not released, publicly professed their faith and requested baptism. The group gathered at Hatchet Creek to carry out the baptisms, with several ministry members, jail staff, and supporters present.
“I’m very proud of the Jail Ministry Team and I’m both blessed and honored to be able to witness the baptism of two people who gave their heart to the Lord,” noted Sheriff Howell on the department’s Facebook page. “May God continue to bless them all.”
