SYLACAUGA & CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The 2025 municipal election cycle comes to a close as Sylacauga and Childersburg will hold run-off elections from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Sylacauga will soon have a new Mayor as Dr. Matt Hubbard and Bryan Taunton face off in the race to select a replacement for Jim Heigl. There was originally a run-off scheduled for Sylacauga City Council District 2 between incumbent Tiffany Nix and A.J. Stamps, but Stamps recently conceded the election.
That leaves voters to decide the District 4 race between incumbent Lee Perryman and Tim Vincent.
Already elected in Sylacauga are District 1 Councilman Greer Wright Bisignani, District 3 incumbent Nate Brewer, and District 5 incumbent Laura Barlow Heath.
Childersburg will choose a new representative for the Ward B seat between Jonathan “JB” Barclay and Paul “Wayne” Spivey. In Ward E, it’s a race between incumbent Tommy Ivey and James Marbury.
Already elected in Childersburg are Mayor Ken Wesson, Ward A Councilman Robbie Riddle, Ward C Councilman Gerald Wallace, and Ward D Councilman Wesley Allen.
With voter turnout low for the general election, any votes cast will be very important in deciding Tuesday’s elections. Make your vote count.
