TALLADEGA, Ala. – Talladega College is joining forces with the Talladega County Extension Service for an “Earth Day” event on Tuesday, April 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The event will be staged at 627 Battle St., on the plot next to Drewery Hall.
The focus will be on learning to discover food security by installing a native food forest.
The “Food for All” segment will be led by Chef Whitley Baker, who is also a certified and educated expert within the field. Participants in the event will help Baker create seasonal recipes as well as become taste testers for what will be made.
Native landscape designer Dashiqua Crittendon will be joined by Talladega College SGA President Jevon Tatum, as they “nurture nature” with a seed saving class, teach about butterfly garden design, and amphibian pond installation.
There will also be guided tours of the historic Talladega College campus, while making “earthly” interactions along the way.
