The Back-to-School sales tax holiday weekend is coming July 18-20

TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – Mark your calendars, and don’t forget to shop local as Alabama’s annual Back-to-School sales tax holiday runs from Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20.

During the sales tax holiday, the following types of tax categories are exempt from state sales tax, and depending on the city or county, may be exempt from local tax as well.

All the cities in our region are participating, making it all the more important to shop locally.

The following is not an all-inclusive list, but these items will be exempt:

* Clothing and apparel suitable for general use, priced $100 or less
* Computers, computer software, and school computer supplies, priced $750 or less
* School supplies, school art supplies, and school instructional material, priced $50 or less
* Required textbooks on an official school book lists, priced under $50
* All other books, priced $30 or less
