SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Toyota of Sylacauga reached an impressive milestone in its ongoing partnership with the Sylacauga City Schools (SCS) Foundation Tuesday afternoon, May 23, as the dealership recently donated an impressive $8,000 through a grant matching program with Toyota corporate.

This significant contribution brings the total amount donated by Toyota of Sylacauga to $50,000 since January 2021, earning the dealership its second Foundation Chair.

SCS Foundation Executive Director Carol Sprayberry expressed her gratitude towards Toyota of Sylacauga and General Manager Chris Cain for their continuous support at the check presentation Tuesday.

Along with the grant matching program, Toyota of Sylacauga has consistently donated $30 per every new car sold since the start of the partnership.

“I think there’s only been one month that [the total amount from Toyota] was under $1,000,” noted Sprayberry.

Cain shared in the thrill of achieving the $50,000 mark and second Chair status, remarking, “We are super excited here at Toyota of Sylacauga to give back to Sylacauga City Schools. The $50,000 milestone is an incredible achievement. My employees look at it, they get excited about it, we see where the money is going, and the kids are awesome. Every time we get to go do a check presentation and we get to go to the school, it’s a wonderful thing.”

This momentous occasion celebrates the dealership’s ongoing partnership with the SCS Foundation and its commitment to supporting educational initiatives within the community.

“When we first started, Toyota was giving us money that we were putting strictly into the science classroom,” Sprayberry pointed out. “The science teachers K through 12 could submit requests of needs they had for lab supplies, and we were funding that. Last July, we stopped that because the science curriculum at the central office said, ‘We’re good."”

Since then, Toyota of Sylacauga’s donations go directly into the SCS Foundation’s grant account, and all teachers throughout the SCS system have access to those funds after writing their grants in January.

The achievement of a second Foundation Chair highlights Toyota of Sylacauga’s dedication to fostering educational excellence and making a positive difference in the lives of Sylacauga City School students.
