SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Families, aviation enthusiasts, and community members are invited to take flight at the third annual Sylacauga Aviation Day on Saturday, June 27, at Sylacauga Municipal Airport’s Merkel Field.
The free event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the airport and will feature a variety of aircraft displays, aviation demonstrations, and family-friendly activities.
Hosted by Sylacauga Municipal Airport and presented by AERO Missions, Aviation Day aims to honor the region’s aviation history while inspiring future generations of pilots and aviation professionals.
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour static displays of airplanes, helicopters, gliders, and radio-controlled aircraft, meet local and professional pilots, learn about area flight schools, and explore the airport grounds. Food trucks and local vendors will also be on site, along with activities designed for children.
Organizers say the event offers a unique chance for residents to experience aviation firsthand and connect with members of the local aviation community.
Admission and parking are free.
AERO Missions is also sponsoring a drawing for a free airplane ride. Participants can enter by liking and sharing the event’s original social media post. The winner will be announced during the event, with the flight scheduled for a later date.
