SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Senior residents are now eligible to apply for benefits through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), administered by the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.

SFMNP provides eligible older adults with a $50 benefit card that can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from approved farmers’ markets and farm stands, including the Sylacauga Farmers’ Market, held on Fridays during the summer months in Central Park, across from Blue Bell Creameries.

Funding for this program is limited, and food benefits are available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Seniors are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

The only way to apply once the portal opens back up for 2026 in the next few weeks is to visit here.
