CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The December Greater Coosa Valley Chamber Coffee experienced a major hiccup, but the classic holiday tradition continued without a hitch down 1st St. to the R.S. Limbaugh Community Center.
Anticipation for the exquisite Christmas decorations at the historic Butler-Harris-Rainwater House had to be rearranged due to an overnight water leak at the traditional location for the holiday event, but the homemade breakfast treats were the best ever, and that’s saying a lot!
Mayor Ken Wesson spoke about the change of venue, recapped the annual “Reason For the Season” concert, and reminded everyone of this Thursday evening’s annual Childersburg Chrstmas Parade, starting at 6:00 p.m.
Malley Limbaugh, the newly named Chairman of the Talladega County Commission, reported that with the greatly-expanded budgets for the new fiscal year, the county remains in great shape financially.
From the community, Gaye Powell hinted at an upcoming exterior facelift for the Rainwater Library, saying, “It’s a surprise, but the Board thinks you’ll be delighted. Keep your eyes peeled to watch the progress.”
Downtown business owner Kara Eslinger of “Fair to Middlin’ Gifts and Boutique” invited everyone to her Christmas Open House this Saturday, Dec. 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., featuring a fun promotion, “Rock Around the Christmas Tree.”
Eslinger also pointed out the “Christmas Holiday Market” version of the Third Thursday Block Party in downtown Childersburg on Dec. 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
“Besides our growing lineup of downtown businesses staying open late that evening, we’re growing a great lineup of pop-up craft and gift vendors, along with some delicious food trucks to compliment our downtown restaurants,” noted Eslinger.
