The Coosa Valley region welcomes an amazing new gift shop and boutique to downtown Childersburg

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – After a little over a year preparing, Kara Eslinger opened the doors to “Fair to Middlin’ Gifts & Boutique” with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, including both the Greater Coosa Valley and Sylacauga Chambers of Commerce.

“It’s been, what, a little over a year since Kara took her first peak inside the building with me,” said Childersburg Mayor, Ken Wesson, “and the transformation has been nothing short of amazing. This is a shop that Kara and her family can be proud of creating, something special for the future of downtown Childersburg. It’s great to see such a crowd welcome her and her new shop.”

Eslinger got more than a bit teary-eyed as she explained the name she chose, Fair to Middlin’.

“The name is a tribute to my Grandpa, using one of his favorite everyday sayings,” Eslinger said. “I was blessed to have such a supportive family. Everybody chipped in, allowing me to research what I wanted to include while getting the building ready and deciding how to display everything. I know he’d be so proud of everything about Fair to Middlin’.”

The usual chit chat for such events was joined by a lot of checking out every inch of the store and its inventory of fashionable clothing and unique gift items that trend toward a lot of sentimental ideas that will make gift-giving a personal experience.

As one shopper was overheard to say, “There’s so much eye-appeal just walking inside the door, and behind that, obviously a lot of thought and substance went into her selection and displays. You think this’ll look good on me?” she asked, holding a top up in front of herself.

“Yep. Absolutely!”

However, words cannot do it justice, so it’s best that you check it out in person at 705 1st St. SW in downtown Childersburg.
