CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The historic Butler-Harris-Rainwater House was breathtakingly decorated for the holiday season as a huge crowd of holiday revelers enjoyed good company and delicious food for the annual December Greater Coosa Valley Chamber Coffee.
Mayor Ken Wesson thanked the ladies of the Childersburg Historic Preservation Committee for all they did to prepare for the big event, as he also remembered this past week’s Childersburg Christmas Tree Lighting event.
“I was worried that the cold might keep people away,” said Mayor Wesson, “but I had been told the crowd would show up at the last minute, and boy did they ever. It was a great night, and with this holiday tradition taking place, we have another coming up with the Childersburg Christmas Parade this Thursday night, starting at 6:00 p.m.”
Wesson went on to extend his prayers to the family of City Councilman Bill Moody.
“Bill’s wife Vicky passed on Monday, losing her courageous battle with cancer. Please keep Bill and his family in your prayers.”
First Lady Trish Wesson thanked the Childersburg Kiwanis Club and Alabama Power for sponsoring the horse-drawn carriage rides on Tree Lighting night.
“That’s one of the most popular parts of the night. It means so much to friends and families to be able to share that holiday tradition together.”
In community announcements, Renasant Bank’s Janice Grohs invited the community to join Childersburg’s downtown bank for their holiday Open House throughout the day on Monday, Dec. 16.
